5 Simple Workout Hacks for Working From Home
Has working from home made it easier or harder to stay active?

Many people since 2020 have been working remotely.
And even as a health coach, it’s been very difficult establishing a stable health routine.
When work, exercise, laundry, cooking, cleaning are all in 1 place- the lines get blurred fast.
But that doesn’t change the fact that exercise is important, especially if you work from home. It can boost your mood, reduce your stress, and improve your work.
Here are 5 Simple Hacks if you work from home to keep you active and moving.
1️⃣ Use follow along workouts
When you’re working from home, the issue is focus.
It’s so easy to get distracted.
Follow along workouts can help you stay engaged by removing that temptation to pick up your phone and swipe away. Just silence notifications and play the video from start to end.
Here are just 2 that I really like to get you started
23 minutes on the floor (Youtube)
14 minute morning stretch (Youtube)
Over time, you can build up a menu of movements that you enjoy!
That way you have some go-to resources when you want to move at home.
2️⃣ Take advantage of online workouts and classes
Thanks to Covid, there’s no shortage of amazing home workout content that’s online.
With the rise of virtual fitness options, you can easily access live or pre-recorded classes from the comfort of your own home.
You can literally have whatever you want!
Pilates
HIIT
Dance cardio
Bodyweight fitness
Kettlebells
The list is endless! Here are some that have worked well for my clients:
BONUS: Participating in a community or live classes can really boost motivation and accountability.
3️⃣ Hit it with HIIT (or LIIT)
What’s not to love about HIIT?
Flexible, efficient, simple- perfect for the home workout.
Many HIIT workouts require little to no equipment. With just a few basic items like dumbbells, resistance bands, or a jump rope, you can create a challenging and effective HIIT workout in the comfort of your own home.
Plus, HIIT can go from as little as 7 minutes to as much as 30. You can fit it into your schedule easily.
HIIT is a perfect choice for home workouts, providing a time-efficient and effective way to improve your fitness and achieve your health goals.

4️⃣ Create a Dedicated Space
When you’re at home, it’s easy for everything to blur together.
Workspace is rest-space, dining-space, and on and on.
Creating a dedicated space to workout in your home can help you combat these issues and improve your overall well-being.
By setting aside a specific area to exercise, you can establish a routine and make physical activity a regular part of your day.
This space can also serve as a mental break from work and help you recharge, leading to increased focus and productivity when you return to your tasks.
Setting aside a dedicated space for exercise can have numerous benefits for those who work from home, both in terms of physical health and job performance.
5️⃣ Get out of the house!
If you’re working from home all the time, consider getting out of the house once a day!
It’s tempting to just stay home and work all the time- and when you’re sucked in it’s easy to stay there.
So it’s beneficial for you to set a “workout appointment” with yourself. Something you do out of the house that forces you to get some exercise and take a mental break.
One way to do this is by taking a walk outside, which can provide several benefits, including fresh air, natural light, and a change of scenery. Walking can also help reduce stress and anxiety, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Another option is to go to the gym, which can provide access to equipment and classes that may not be available at home.
Additionally, going to the gym can provide a sense of community and accountability, which can help you stay motivated and committed to your fitness goals.
While home workouts can be effective, try to mix things up and exercise outside the house to get the most out of your fitness routine.
